Why should you treat your decking?
It is recommended that wooden decks are treated regularly to protect it from UV rays and the weather. The frequency will depend upon what your deck is constructed from.
If it is left untreated the timbers will fade and change to a silvery grey colour and aesthetically this may not be your preference.
Water also drains more quickly from a smooth surface, and regular treatment maintains the upper smooth layer.
It is important to brush the surface and remove build-up of dead leaves or dirt that may be causing rain to puddle, preventing adequate drainage and drying out. If not allowed to drain the area may become slippery.
If the surface becomes slippery it isn’t necessarily because it is wet, often this is the result of a fungus that has grown in the wood because it has become soaked.  Regular Treatment helps to prevent this.
