Mortice Chisels & Bits (6)

Mortice chisels and bits are used to cut a square hole in timber to accept a tenon joint. Similar in appareance to an auger bit, the mortice bit sits inside the square of the chisel and is designed to remove all of the timber. The edges of the mortice chisel then remove the corners of the hole leaving a square edged mortice.
