Treated Timber Battens (4)

Treated timber battens, also referred to as roofing lath or timber battening, are commonly used to support or fix roof tiles and slates to rafters. They are applied over waterproof roofing membrane either horizontally or in a counter-batten system to ensure adequate ventilation is achieved if close-fitting roof covers are to be installed.

At C & W Berry, our range of Naturewood green treated battens are available in a selection of standard sizes including 38 x 19mm, 38 x 25mm and 50 x 25mm. They can be cross-cut to a desired length and are all Chain of Custody (COC) certified to ensure quality is maintained from sustainable sources. These battens protect against insect attack and wood rotting fungi due to the treatment process and can be used as dry lining timber or to make or repair damaged trellis panels.

Premium grade roofing battens that meet the requirements of BS 5534:2014+A2:2018 are also available to purchase in 50 x 25mm size options in lengths of 4.8 metres. These battens contain knot holes of less than 5mm and include supplier identification, size, origin and BS 5534 markings. They are pre-treated in yellow, COC certified and are highly resistant to rot, decay and wood-boring insects.
